That’s all I have on my enough to see Labour blast one mind right now.” LABOUR, CELTS, continued from Page A14 allowing Mucken to reach third on the play. An RBI- groundout by Shayn Tauer tied the score at 1-1. Ready began to lose his command later in the frame, giving up three walks and a bunt single which put the Foxes up 2-1. But Ready re- tired the next two batters to get out of trouble. Ready, who will be a soph- omore in the fall, played on the Celtics freshmen team during the spring, but in his 5.2 in- nings of work, Ready showed that he might be prepared for varsity baseball next year. “Logan is really reliable for us on the mound,” Keeker said. “Every once in a while, he’ll run into some command issues, but he has good stuff for his age. He’s just a competitor. I know when I give him the ball, I can trust him with it.” After coming up empty in the top of the fourth, the Celt- ics had their best opportunity to tie or take the lead in the top of the fi fth. A one-out bloop single from Aicher got the threat started. Mayer struck out in the following at-bat, but Mar- tin got aboard with an infi eld single, and both he and Ai- cher advanced 90 feet on a ATHLETE “I’ve been driving the ball more in the air this year.” Silverton throwing error. But with runners on sec- ond third, Olsen fell just short of his second homer of the game, fl ying out to the warn- ing track in center fi eld. Ready got through the bottom of the fi fth with ease, but in the sixth inning, every- thing fell apart for McNary. Three Celtic errors in the inning led to fi ve Silverton runs — only one of them was earned. Ready was replaced on the mound by Hayden Kaiser. “They started to put the pressure on us and we weren’t able to make plays,” Keeker said. “That sixth inning really snowballed on us.” “Even though we didn’t get the result that we wanted, we hope that these guys grow from it moving forward.” DEIYERBERT BOLIVAR LHP, Salem-Keizer Volcanoes The 23-year old from Venezuela has been the most reliable relief pitcher for the Volcanoes so far this season. In nine appearances, Bolivar has an ERA of 0.75 with 14 strikeouts in 12 innings of work. Bolivar picked up his fi rst win of the season on Thursday, July 18 against Boise, pitching two perfect innings in relief. He followed it up with his fi rst save in his next appearance on Sunday, July 21, which helped the Volcanoes clinch the fi rst half NWL South Division title. KEIZERTIMES/Matt Rawlings Logan Ready threw 5.2 innings for McNary, giving up two hits and two earned runs. puzzle answers ASK MR. TRASH Q. I heard about China’s ban on recycling.
