Gelabert left the game after fi ve innings with a 1-0 record. In the Hops eighth, singles by Barrosa, January, and Nick Dalessandro loaded the bases with one out, but a double play stopped the rally. In the ninth, Abel Adames pitched for the Volcanoes and allowed a double and walk but no runs. Volcano manager Mark Hallberg called the game "a good experience" for his players, saying they learned what can happen even after a big win. The attendance was 1,851. Nunez and Salem-Keizer starter Kervin Castro each went fi ve innings and gave up one earned run. Although the Volcanoes outhit the Indians 7-4, hits were not the only factor in Spokane’s 11th-inning rally. Cooper Casad, who became the losing pitcher, hit Stanly Martinez, who later scored. Jonah McReynolds scored the fi nal Indian run on a sacrifi ce fl y by Starling Joseph. Mejias scored the second Volcano run on a force out. Josh Smith was the winning pitcher. Both Graneto and Kuhl are four-year letter winners for the McNary boys tennis team and spent this last season as co-captains of the squad. And in the classroom, Graneto and Kuhl were honored with multiple academic accolades at the Celtic Awards Ceremony on May 28. They are great to coach because you know that they're going to work hard and you know that they're going to dedicate themselves to getting better.” Graneto spent the entire season as the No. 1 singles player for McNary, meaning that he always had to face the best competition in the Mountain Valley Conference. But no matter what the situation was, he was always up to the challenge. “Adam really embraced that No. 1 spot and was able to rise to the occasion when we KEIZERTIMES/File Adam Graneto slams a backhand earlier this tennis season. needed him,” McAvoy said.
