McNary gets victory over McKay in fi rst home meet The McNary girls tennis team was victorious in their fi rst home meet of the season as they defeated McKay on Thursday, April 18. Both teams won four matches apiece, but the Celtics edged out the Royal Scots by a score of 9-8 to seize the win. Lexy McKay was the only McNary singles player to win her match as she defeated Denise Hernanzez Zamora 6-1, 6-2 in the #2 match. After losing the fi rst set, McNary’s top singles player, Avery Haymowicz, extended the match by winning the second set 6-0. But she ended up losing the tiebreaker 6-4. However, the Celtics took home three of the four doubles matches, starting with McNary’s #1 team of Natalia Gonzales and Gina Munguia-Martinez, who won 6-4, 6-2. The Celt- ics held West Albany scoreless for the fi nal 14 minutes of the game and made sure the Bulldogs didn’t have any easy looks. As the Celtics move to- wards the latter part of their season, LaFramboise is hoping she can get her team to play with more consistentcy for 50 minutes. “Right now, we are fo- cused on keeping up with our consistency and playing at the same level in both the fi rst half KEIZERTIMES/Matt Rawlings and second half,” LaFramboise Regann Donahue (5) looks for an opening in the defense. said.
