Committee mdy look dt new stdnddrds for Keizer streets The Keizer Traffi c Safety, Bikeways and Pedestrian Committee held its most recent meeting Thursday, Nov. 8. Here is what was discussed: • Committee members telegraphed a larger discus- sion on deck for its Decem- ber 11. The committee will discuss the possibility of rec- ommending the city adopt new road development stan- dards. The city currently uses American Association of State Highway and Transpor- tation Offi cials (AASHTO) standards, which emphasizes automotive transportation. The National Association of City Transportation Offi - cials offers a different take on road design with an empha- sis on multimodal (especially bike) transportation. NACTO’s manual pro- vides instruction on creating treatments street improve- ments, such as protected bike lanes, transit-priority streets, and parklets. AASHTO’s doesn’t. NACTO’s guide might also prove useful as city leaders ponder revitalization of River Road North and Cherry Avenue Northeast. • The meeting featured updates on ongoing proj- ects including additional wayfi nding signs along the bike path adjacent to the Sa- lem-Keizer Parkway and the possibility of new bike racks at McNary High School. The bike racks at MHS are a passion project for Committee Member Hersch Sangster, who used the same racks when he was a student at the school in the 1970s. “We want to work with CTEC to make 10 to 20 racks at a cost of $85 a piece. There is a small community at the school working to- ward it and we already have about $1,200,” Sangster said. Sangster said the only stipulation, aside from wait- ing for bond construction to be completed, is that the racks be McNary blue. • SPORTS MASSAGE • FIRE CUPPING • REFLEXOLOGY CHIROPRACTIC ADVANTAGE NOW OPEN ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS — CALL 614.806.9746 CHRYSTAL CLEAR AESTHETICS NOW TAKING APPOINTMENTS NO PROOF OF INSURANCE Melanie Lynn Blacksmith, $600; Sergey Nikolaevich Ti- tarenko, $245; Terra Brooke Denney, $235; Glacius Ice Kings-Shield, $240.
