The Marion County Mas- ter Recycler Program provides expert instruction to people who live and work in Marion County. The class covers all aspects of solid waste manage- ment and ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle as much as possible. “Many folks wonder why we have an entire class on recy- cling,” said Bailey Payne, Waste Reduction Coordinator for the County. “But once they get into the class, they discover that we cover a lot more informa- tion than simply what can be recycled.” Those things include: how do commercial operations ac- tually separate materials that are all mixed together in those blue roll carts; why all plastics are not alike; how does food waste get composted; and, where does all the garbage go if it doesn’t go to a landfi ll. The Keizer Traffi c Safety, Bikeways and Pedestrian Committee had its most recent meeting Thursday, Aug. 17, here’s what was discussed: • A formal dedication of the new bike repair station at Keizer Civic Center was slated for Thursday, Sept. 14 at 5:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend. • Members of the board are hoping to connect with the Keizer Chamber of Commerce to boost lo- cal enrollment in Travel Oregon’s Bike-Friendly Business program. • Engaged in a con- versation regarding how speed complaints are han- dled at the Keizer Police Department. Sgt. Trevor Wenning said that most complaints are the result of percep- tion rather than speeding, especially when cars are seen traveling around large curves such as the ones found on some Keizer streets like Parkmeadow Drive, Verda Lane and Ridge Drive. When there is a com- plaint, Wenning said data collectors are placed in the problem spots and then the complainant is invited to the police station to re- view the results. “Most of the time, 85 percent of the vehicles are doing 1 to 2 mph over the speed limit,” Wenning said. “We do know that there are vehicles traveling much faster at times, but it is hard to enforce.” If a problem is found, Wenning uses timestamps on the results to station traffi c offi cers near the area. • Wenning also reported that KPD’s fi rst Coffee with a Cop in August was a success. He expected to be talking with residents for 90 minutes and ended up talking for almost three hours. The most frequent topics were traffi c-related concerns. public notices PUBLISHED SUMMONS IN THE CIRCUIT COURT OF THE STATE OF OREGON FOR MARION COUNTY Juvenile Department Case Nos. 17JU05461 PUBLISHED SUMMONS In the Matter of NOELISSA NUNEZ- KORKOW, A Child.
