NE, is holding a Black Friday event Friday, Nov. 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 26, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Anderson Photography and Design will take photos with Santa as well as family portraits for Christmas cards on Friday, 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Story time with Mr. Claus will take place Friday at 11 a.m. and Saturday at 3:30 p.m. For $1 per child, hot coco and cookies will Santa is also scheduled for Friday, 4 to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 5 to Neva Irene Norris June 11, 1932 -November 15, 2016 Neva Irene Norris passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016. She was 84 years old. She was born June 11, 1932, to Alfonso and Clara Sanchez in San Francisco, Calif. She became the eldest of three sib- lings. Neva grew up in California and married LaFoy Norris on Oct. 16, 1955. Together they had four children: Neal Nor- ris of Watsonville, Calif., Faron Norris of Elgin, S.C., LaVern Atkins of Keizer, and Loren Norris of Gold Beach, Ore. After the death of her hus- band in 1995, Neva moved to Oregon where she resided with their only daughter. She stayed there for more than 21 years until her death. In her later years, she suf- fered from Alzheimer’s among other health problems, but still retained her cheer- ful demeanor with a smile on her face, a small giggle to N. Norris her voice and a cheerful hello to all who spoke with her. She is survived by her sister Nelda Benedict, her four chil- dren, seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. 6 p.m. Admission to the event, which also includes a scavenger hunt, is free. “It’s something new,” said Kat Sheldon, who is organizing the event with her daughter Crystal Richey. “Hopefully it goes really well to where we’re going to do this on a regular basis.” The fi rst 50 moms and 50 kids 12-and-under each day will receive a swag bag with a coloring book and crayons for the kids and coupons and samples from the 15 vendors in attendance for the moms. The vendors include Odyssey Rose, Damsel In Defense, Matilda Jane, Lemongrass Spa, Tie & Knotted, LuLaRoe, Usborne Books, Cupcakes by Flea, Miche, Young Living Oils, Storybook Face, Anderson Photography and Design, Ruby Ribbon, Advocare, Twisty and Friends, Younique, Claudia’s and Pink Zebra. Anyone who brings a new unwrapped t o y , blanket or cloth- ing will be en- tered into a drawing on Sat- urday at 4 p.m. Concessions will be available for sale, including sweet and sour chicken and rice for lunch for less than $5. Support homeless students at Christmas party The Salem Association of Realtors Community Fund and the Salem-Keizer school’s STEP program are hosting their 27th annual Children’s Christmas Party. The party will be held at the Salem Evangelical Church, 455 Locust Street N.E., on Dec. 10. New show at Keizer Arts Keizer Arts Association is inviting the public to submit their art for the Fire and Ice show. Any art depicting fi re and/or snow and ice may be entered for the gallery. Children between ages four and 14 are encouraged to enter the show as well. Intake for the art is Wednesday, Nov. 30, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will later be an artists’ reception on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Events at the party will include gifts, lunch, crafts, giving store and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. The event is funded completely by donations. The STEP program pro- vides educational support that aides students without a home, or in transition, to achieve academic success. They offer services such as transportation, school sup- plies, access to academic sup- port, and referrals to commu- nity resources. The Salem Association of Realtors Community Fund was established as a charitable organization with goals of breaking the cycle of home- lessness and provide opportu- nities for affordable housing, to serve disadvantaged chil- dren and families in crisis, and to contribute to the livability of the community and build a sense of pride neighborhoods. All of the proceeds go back to the local community.
