Register your National Night Out gathering In partnership with the National Association of Town Watch, the Keizer Police Department will be co- sponsoring the 33rd annual National Night Out event citywide on Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. Residents in neighborhoods in Keizer and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Many neighborhoods will host a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, potlucks, dessert socials and youth activities. Neighborhood Watch block captains are encouraged to organize an event as an opportunity to contact their participants, meet new neighbors and update their rosters. All other neighborhoods are also encouraged to participate. Registration for National Night Out 2016 is available on the KPD website at www.keizer.org/ Police/. Drama students: Up your game at Enlightened camps Enlightened Theatrics, a Salem-based musical theatre company, is offering two youth camps in August for students ages 10 to 18. Campers ages 10 to 13 can participate in Exploring Oz Aug. 1 5hrough 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The week-long ses- sion focuses on learning the ins-and-outs of a musical pro- duction ranging stage direction to choreography, voice and more. The camp will culmi- nate in a fi nal performance on stage in a showcase during the The Wizard of Oz’s offi cial run. Cost is $100 per camper. Campers age 14 to 18 can take part in Broadway Rocks Aug. 8 through 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants will take an in-depth look into the shows that changed Ameri- can musical theatre forever by learning the infl uence of rock music in the Broadway set- ting from 1960s and on.
