Derek Wiley is the paper’s new point person for news related to sports, schools and the Keizer Fire District. Wiley can be contacted via email at news@keizertimes.com or phone at 503- 390-1051. Wiley comes to the Keizertimes from The Dalles Chronicle, where he covered everything from county commissioner meetings to schools and sports. Wiley is originally from Georgia, the state, not the country, and spent four years, the last three as sports editor, at The Oconee Enterprise, a weekly paper in Watkinsville (nine miles from the University of Geor- gia) before moving to Oregon in 2015. While at the Enterprise, Wiley covered a future Oregon Duck softball player Geri Ann Glasco, who in high school won two state championships and was named the 2012 Gatorade National Player of the Year. He looks forward to getting to know the athletes and coaches at McNary High School. Wiley is married with two dogs. He enjoys theater and running. He com- pleted the Portland Marathon in October and has registered for the Hood to Coast Relay in August. Eric Howald is taking over the man- aging editor position vacated by Craig Murphy. Murphy recently accepted a po- sition at Random Lengths in Eugene.
