The National Associa-

(NAMM) recently honored
Uptown Music with the
Milestone Award for 25 years
of service in the music prod-
ucts industry. The award rec-
ognizes music businesses that
have succeeded over the years
through best practices and
strong community standing to
reach a landmark anniversary.
“This is such an honor and
we are so grateful to be part of
a supportive community,” said
Paul Elliott, owner of Uptown
Music.
Uptown was founded in
1991 by Jim and Sylvia Nardi.
The store expanded to meet
the needs of the community
over the next 14 years and has
been at its current location for
the last 11 years.
“NAMM is proud to rec-
ognize Uptown Music for
their 25 years of service to
their community, staff and to
the music and sound products
industry,” said Joe Lamond,
NAMM president and CEO.
“Their hard work and will-
ingness to adapt, as well as
their commitment to mak-
ing this world a more musical
place, have helped them stand
the test of time and will be the
driver of their future success.”
Milestone Awards are pre-
sented to longtime industry
leaders during the NAMM
Show in Anaheim, Calif.
Longtime Whiteaker Middle School coach Scott Coburn has
been named one of three fi nalists for the Comcast SportsNet
All-Star Coach Program.
The program is aimed at recognizing Oregon and Washing-
ton school coaches, and the coach who is awarded the All-Star
Coach title for Oregon will receive $5,000 for the school where
he/she coaches.
The fi nal award presentation will take place at the Portland
Trail Blazers game on April 2.
Coburn was selected because of his integrity as a coach and
teacher. He is a role model for his students as well as for the
other coaches in the state, said Whiteaker offi cials in a press re-
lease. His coaching style encourages student athletes to put forth
effort, display good sportsmanship, and above all, never give up.
He encourages a growth mindset and is willing to work tireless
hours to teach athletes the skill of the event while promoting
self-confi dence and respect.
