WMS aims
to be kind
Whiteaker Middle School students
spent the past week trying to foster
kindness around the school and in all
its students.
The Great Kindness Challenge, a
weeklong campaign to promote simple
acts of kindness, is a opportunity to turn
the messages of anti-bullying on their
head.
Instead of trying to create buy-in for
a negative goal, anti-bullying, the pro-
gram is designed to help students ex-
perience kindness in all its forms fi rst-
hand.

A. Sorry, plastic bags cannot go into the blue cart because they get
tangled in the sorting equipment and cause major delays.
TRY THESE HELPFUL IDEAS INSTEAD:
• Use them to tie-off odorous garbage before tossing into garbage cart
• Re-use them or, if possible, recycle them at the store that you got them from.
• Call the RECYCLE HOTLINE (503) 390-4000 for other possible recycling locations.
• Ask your store to bag your purchases in paper instead. Oregon law gives you the choice!
