lo. Hunter Brothers of Grand
Junction took the mound, and
Vizcaino drove in Marte with a
sacrifi ce fl y.
The Pioneer League added
a run in the eighth. With Pedro
Araujo of the Eugene Emeralds
pitching, Pierson singled and
stole second. Denson singled
Pierson home.
In the bottom of the eighth,
Clark doubled, Peter Van Gan-
sen of the Tri-City Dust Dev-
ils walked, and a wild pitch
by Hunter Brothers of Grand
Junction moved both runners
up. Padlo struck out, but the
third strike was a wild pitch that
got him to fi rst and Clark home.
The score was 5-5 through
the top of the 10th. In the NWL
10th, Justin Atkinson doubled
off Dan Savas of the Osprey and
was out on a fi elder’s choice that
put Yeyson Yrizarri of Spokane
on fi rst. Clark singled, moving
Yrizarri to second. Van Gansen
singled Yrizarri home.
The winning pitcher was
Luiz Gohara of Everett. Savas
was the loser.

Salem-Keizer won the se-
ries from Everett four games
to one, going into the all-star
break with a 5-2 second-half
record and the South Divi-
sion lead.
July 29: Volcanoes 5,
Everett 4 (10 innings)
It was the fi rst win, against
two losses, in an extra-inning
game for Salem-Keizer this
season.
A walk-off single by
Miguel Gomez with Ron-
nie Jebavy on third base
ended the game. The win-
ning pitcher, Caleb Smith,
struck out four and walked
one with no hits for his two
innings.
The AquaSox, in town
to start a fi ve-game series,
scored all their runs in the
fi rst inning. The Volcanoes
came back with one run in
the fi rst and scored twice in
the fourth before tying the
score in the seventh with a
home run, his fi rst of 2015,
off the rapidly improving bat
of John Riley.

way, scoring a run in each of
the fi rst four innings before
Everett scored its two in the
fi fth.
Ronnie Jebavy was Sa-
lem-Keizer’s hitting star, get-
ting three hits including his
fourth home run. Julio Pena
also hit his fourth and John
Riley his second.
Each club went through
fi ve pitchers, with Volcano
starter Andrew Suarez leav-
ing after four innings be-
cause of a pitch count limit.
He allowed fi ve hits but no
walks and struck out two.
Nathaniel Santiago got the
win, his fi rst. AquaSox starter
Luiz Gohara was the losing
pitcher.
Salem-Keizer’s big inning
was the four-run sixth. The
runs came on four singles, a
walk and a fi elder’s choice.
Aug. 1: Everett 11,
Volcanoes 7
AquaSox bats got hot,
providing six runs in the
fi rst inning and never letting
Salem-Keizer even tie the
score.

Everett had 17 hits in all,
four by Drew Jackson and
three by Everett Mejia. The
Volcanoes had 12 hits, three
by Christian Lichtenthaler,
and scored three times in the
ninth inning.
Logan Webb was the start-
er and loser, evening his re-
cord at 3-3. Everett starter
Jose Santiago got the win,
running his record to 3-3.
Aug. 2: Volcanoes 3,
Everett 2
Drew Leenhouts won his
sixth game against only one
loss and left the game with an
earned run average of 1.99.
Caleb Smith got his fi fth save,
Scott Price hit his fi rst pro-
fessional home run.
The Volcanoes scored the
fi rst two runs of the game in
the third inning and added a
run in the fourth before the
AquaSox scored in the sev-
enth and eighth.
In the Salem-Keizer third,
Junior Amion singled, stole
second base and went to
third on a throwing error,
and scored on a double by
Steven Duggar. Ronnie Je-
bavy singled Duggar home.
Price’s homer provided the
fourth-inning run.
Everett’s runs were scored
when Connor Hale singled
Luis Liberato home in the
seventh and Drew Jackson
scored on an Erick Mejia
single in the eighth.
The Volcanoes’ ninth-
inning runs came on four
singles and a wild pitch.
