Individuals and foursomes can sign up to play in the benefi t up to Saturday morning. The event is a shotgun scramble with a barbecue and auction. Registration starts at 11 a.m., the shotgun begins at 1 p.m. Paralyzed Veterans of Amer- ica, marking its seventh decade, is the only Congressionally- chartered veterans service or- ganization dedicated solely for the benefi t of veterans with spi- nal cord injuries or disease. Golden Onions honor Celtics’ fi nest on stage The McNary High School drama department held its an- nual Golden Onion Awards Friday, May 29, with ac- tors in the recent production of Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure picking up a bevy of awards. Best actor and actress hon- ors went to Christopher Ro- driguez and as Angelo and Julia Fegles as Elle Woods in Measure for Measure and Legally Blonde, respectively. Both were hon- ored as the Outstanding Senior Actors as well. Osvaldo Torres (Measure for Measure) and Madi Zuro (Le- gally Blonde) won for perfor- mances by an actor in a sup- porting role. Carina Myrand and Ashton Thomas won for actress and actor in featured roles, both for Measure for Mea- sure. John Bryant and Elise Submitted Current and former students all attended a celebration in honor of the 50th anniver- sary of Kennedy Elementary school in May. Kennedy Elementary School Celebrated 50 years in May with A Walk Down Memory Lane. Former and current students, staff and parents joined in the celebration that included a hall- way picture walk to honor the last 50 years, a photo slide show, yearbooks over the years, re- freshments and balloon animals for the kids. The principal from 1985 and some of the staff from 40-plus years ago were in attendance. Many current Kennedy par- ents (former Kennedy students themselves) enjoyed showing off their pictures from years at Kennedy and sharing memoies of their time as Cobras and Cougars. LeDuc took home Onions for minor roles in Reckless. Ryver Nakayoshi and Annie Purkey were honored for outstanding performances in the depart- ment’s second One Act Festi- val. Myrand, Amby Raymond, Morgan Raymond, David Henderson, Felicia Elmore, Kyle Hogan, Bryant, Brandon Seely and Fegles were honored as 2015’s Theatre Students of Merit for earning GPAs of 3.5 or better and A’s in all theatre classes. Outstanding Technical The- atre students were Cole Juran, Seely and A. Raymond. Ju- ran. Fegles and Myrand were named Outstanding Theatre Students of the Year. The Jared C. Miller Expect Great Things Award went to Fegles and Rodriguez. The Dan Hays Heart of the The- atre Award dual honorees were Bryant and Juran. Kent Wilson was honored with the Ken Collins Award which goes to a community member for their support of McNary drama and Celtic fi ne arts in general.
