KEIZERTIMES/ Lyndon A. Zaitz Dolores (nee Haeger) and Gary Young of Keizer celebrated their 60th wedding anniver- sary this week. The couple were married Feb. 26, 1955, at the First Presbyterian Church in Arcata, Calif. The best man at the wedding was the groom’s brother Steve; the maid of honor was the bride’s sister Darlene Haeger. The Youngs have three children (Athena, Anthony and Arlene Janusch) and four grand- children (Lani Newell, Max Janusch, Eli Ja- nusch and Ryan Swinford). Dolores worked in school libraries for the Salem-Keizer School District; Gary retired af- ter a career in the trucking industry. He owned a restaurant in Keizer in the 1960s; he was member of the Keizer Merchants Association (now the Keizer Chamber of Commerce) and a charter member of both the Keizer Elks and the Keizer Rotary clubs. When asked what he had learned after 60 years of marriage Gary said, “Nothing,” except how fortunate he is. hops, strawberries and irises. A river would go through the center of the mural. Children will be able to do handprints directly on the wall, with old- er children helping with the rest of the painting. A profes- sional artist would be called upon to do up-close inserts of the various items. Christopher said it could range from one artist doing all the inserts to artists doing one each. Those interested are asked to attend a meeting in council chambers at Keizer Civic Center on March 31 at 6 p.m. After that meeting, those interested will have 30 days to submit their designs. By that time, a compensation amount should be known. “We want it to be a com- munity project,” Hagen said. “We will be asking for some money to do this, but if some- one can’t pay that won’t pre- vent them from participating. We want to try to include ev- eryone, of all ages. The hand- prints will be one of the fi rst things and will be done di- rectly on the wall. The num- ber depends on how much KEIZERTIMES/Craig Murphy (Above) Lore Christopher, Jill Hagen and Don Lebold show what a mural would look like at Town and Country Lanes. Old- er kids could do other parts.” Much of the painting would be done by high school students, as envisioned by Ha- gen and Christopher. “We will do a call to art- ists for the up-close inserts,” Hagen said. “The professionals would do only the inserts.” Hagen noted her original design will have to be altered somewhat since the wall is so long. “It’s a very long, narrow space we’re talking about,” she said. “The design was not made for a long, narrow space. It will have to be stretched out.” Business&Services APPLIANCES ATTORNEY Nigel Guisinger • • • New Owner Estate Planning Elder Law Probate Social Security Attorneys at Law 503-304-4886 Experienced Knowledgeable Friendly • Personal Injuries Worker’s Compensation Personal Injury • Auto Accidents 3800 River Rd N in Keizer 503-390-0161 ATTORNEY Walsh & Associates Jean M.
