PAGE 8, KEIZERTIMES, JANUARY 16, 2015 CAFE, continued from Page 1 police scanner MONDAY, JAN. 5 From planning to prep to plating and service, the cu- linary team, which includes Olivia Berger, Jolie Larimer, Valeria Sanchez and Sami Trowbridge, has a hand in all of it. On the days when bistro service is offered, they give up their own lunches to prepare for customers. They are assisted by Chef Russ Langstadt, who mentors the girls and tries to create an atmosphere similar to what they would encounter in real- world settings. “I want to give a life skill to those who don’t want to cook professionally, and I want to take the ones who do want to cook professionally and help them get there,” Langstadt said. That means paying special attention to knife skill and basic cooking methods, but exposing the students to the wide range of foods available is of utmost importance. “Like with the margherita pizza, today,” Langstadt said. “Many of the girls had never even heard of it before. I also want them to understand what it means to cook from scratch.” Bond said the team is hop- ing to offer sit-down service twice a month for faculty members in the short term, but there’s a bigger vision in the offi ng. “We are very much look- ing forward to opening to the community. We will need to fi gure out exactly which days we will operate, and then the best way to let the commu- nity know. CR INC. CR More than twenty years ago Deborah Inkelaar, LTC, founded Accurate Tax Service with the simple idea that she wasn’t doing taxes, she was building relationships with her clients. In 2012 Robert A. Evans, E.A., LTC, who also started his own accounting fi rm more than 20 years ago, merged his practice with Deborah at Accurate Tax Service, and now together they offer professional and knowledgeable service specializing in individual and business tax return preparation as well as offering bookkeeping and payroll services. January is the month when most people think about taxes. This tax year more than usual it will be important for taxpayers to be informed as we deal with the reporting requirements arising from the IRS’s implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACT, or Obamacare as commonly known). All taxpayers will need to fi le their tax returns in compliance with the ACT requirements, vouching of their compliance or calculating their credit or penalty. All businesses, farms and rental owners will also need to be aware of the new rules concerning expenses and capitalization. We are here to review the questions with you, complete the worksheets and forms necessary to prepare your return in compliance with the new laws. “All clients are people, not numbers,” said Inkelaar. “We appreciate and value the trust they place in us and strive to do the best job possible for them.” Accurate Tax Service is open year round~ Deborah and Robert are available to provide tax support with these new regulations and all their client’s life changes: a new job, moving, marriage, births, divorce, and death. The offi ce is located in Keizer’s Baker Square at 146 Chemawa Road N. For an appointment with the experts call 503-463-9019.
