Luthy the Jewelryman, a r d Mr. Gal braith, of Wenatchee, Washing ton, in which Mr. Galbraith takes >ver the jewelry business of Mr. Luthay. Mr. Luthv has been in business in Stayton for the pait eight years. He has been a member of the council, a fireman and has been a fighter for the better ment of the city. Charley purchased the present business when it was in its in fancy, and has built up a l u c rative business that is second to none in this section, Ju9t at the present writing we not are in position to say what the future of the business will be but in announcing Mr. Galbreth. the new owner, we learn that he is a jeweler of a number f years experience and is also i n Opti cian and Engraver and w i'lstrive to give the people of Stayton and vicinity, just what they want. Last Sunday evening a sur prise party was given in honor of Mr. E. A K erber’s 52nd birthday. The evening was very pleasantly spent by both old and young at cards, and danci ig. A very dainty lunch was served at a late hour. Kerber and family. The annual meeting of the Stayton Mutual Telephone Co. was held in the city hail Monday evening and the following officers elected: Pres. Byron Denny; Vice Pres, J. M. Ringo; Secre- tary-Treas, E. D. Alexander; Director, John Thoma. The secretary reported that the switchboard ass’n had raised its fees, but it was decided by the meeting not to raise the local dues until necessary, as the com pany has considerable money on hand.
