it .W S Dennis Caldwell has been seen with Stayton folks again. * J. F. Mielke made a business trip to Aumsville Weknesday. Henry Mutchler went to Port land Tuesday morning. W. A. Weddle was in Portland Saturday looking after business. Mrs. J. P. Wilbur visited rela tives at Portland the first of the week. On account of the high water the stage did not make the trip to Salem Monday. Norman Davie has been visit ing here with friends and rela tives for several days. George Colby was in town on Monday transacting business with Stavton merchants. • , Sav, don’ t forget the Western comedy drama, “ The Pet o f the Camp” which will be put on at Sublimity Friday night, Febru ary 28. It promises to be a Hum Dinger. The Sloper-Murphy Sawmill Company have dissolved part nership, Mr. A. L. Murphy hav. ing purchased the half interest owned by Mr. Sloper, Mr. Mur phy will continue to operate the mill and Mr. Miller will leave shortly for an extended southern California visit. He reports a very successful run and feels as sured o f a coutinuance under the able management of Murphy and Murphy. A romance which began before the war. ended happily in (his city Wednesday, when Miss Idris Rossell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Rossell, of Stay- ton, became the bride of Guy W. P. Aydelott, of Forest Grove, a naval aviator, who has just returned from» service with the American forces in Italy. Rev. H. E. Rossell, uncle of the bride performed the cenAnony. Ford, stating that he was send ing a German Officers dress hel met as a souvenir for the school. The helmet arrived as soon as the letter and has been the object of much examination by the tea chers, High School students, and grade pupils for,the past several days. All feel very elated over the gift and Mr. Ford’s thm.fht- fulness in sending it. A packet o f cards also came, showing various French and German cities, the Americans in Lux emburg, ect. The helmet and cards will be on display at the school and any one wishing to see them, is at liberty to do so at anytime. *In his letter Mr. Ford wrote o f his busy life with the Y. M. C. A., stating that he has charge o f canteens in eight dif ferent cities. Sec retary o f the Senior Class, hid a very pleasant surprise in store for that class Monday* morning when she announced that the long looked for Senior rings had arrived. The Seniors immediate ly adjourned to Miss Miller's roc ms, where they received them with all due ceremony.
