At Star Theatre Saturday night, Sep tem ber 7 In the Back "A rm s and the O lrl,” the P ara mount photoplay which Is appearing on Sunday of this week at the Star Theatre, follows closely the stage version which met with such success a few years ago. Billie Burke Is the star. Briefly, the plot is as follows: Ar. American girl, stranded In Bel gium at the opening of the preseut war. Innocently exchanges her pass port with a Russian girl— a spy. An other American, a young man, also helps the Russian girl by the loan of his autom obile. W hen the Germans scire the town the two Americans who have not been able to escape are held for complicity, especially the man who is ordered to be shot. “The G irl” saves him by declaring him to be the ffance she has been waiting for, and as If to prove her statem ent, the German general orders the two to he m arried at once. This Is done and the two young people find them selves in a most em barrassing posi tion. The husband escapes, how ever, while in the meantime, the real lia> ce appears. Owing to a fire near Silverton, the boys from there were late In getting here, having been detailed for guard duty in the afternoon, but after they arrived both companies were turned over to Captain Sm ith, of Silverton, who put the bunch through some fine maneuvers, till about 9:30 when they marched to the Masonic hall where a lunch had been prepared for them. The lunch consisted of ice cream , cake and good fresh apple cider, which was served by pretty girls in an appetizing manner.
