Most of the work in the high
school for the past few days has
been the reviewing for the finals,
which will be given Thursday
and Friday.
Lois Bracken is slowly recov­
ering from her broken ankle,
and at the last reports from her,
it will still be a week or two be­
fore she will be able to leave the
house.
June Kearns handed in her
resignation as editor of the Bugle,
one day this week. The Student
Body immediately elected a new
editor. Guy Hurt being unani­
mously elected to the office.
In order to swell their amount
to the gymnasium fund, the girls
sold candy at the operetta Fri­
day night.
Leona Sandner, in her final
examination in t y p e w r i t i n g ,
broke her own record of 52 net
words per minute, this being the
high school record. She wrote
57 net words per minute. Helen
Staab also made a good record,
writing 55 net words.
Owing to the fact that Miss
Olive Bassett was detained in
Portland, she was not at the
high school Monday.
The 1st year English class will
study Shakespeare’s “Merchant
of Venice’’ as a classic for the
2nd semester. The 1st year
German class will study Wilden-
bruch’s “Der Letzte,” also a
classic.
Mr. Hoffer has been giving
the poor writers in Miss Crab­
tree’s room special attention for
the past week. A wonderful im­
provement has already b e e n
noticed by the teacher.
The 5th grade is making an
extensive study of Oregon. They
are using all the available out­
side material which makes the
study more interesting.
Calvin Bracken is absent from
Miss Crabtree’s room on account
of illness.
Miss Marshall has finished
reading Poe’s “Gold Bug.” and
is now reading “The Lost Shack­
le,’’ an Indian story.
The 5th grade has just finish­
ed learning “Lincoln’s Gettys­
burg address.’’
Margaret Hensley is absent
from the 6th grade on account
of illness and Heit Pancoast
from the 5th grade.
