Leona Sandner, in her final examination in t y p e w r i t i n g , broke her own record of 52 net words per minute, this being the high school record. She wrote 57 net words per minute. Helen Staab also made a good record, writing 55 net words. Owing to the fact that Miss Olive Bassett was detained in Portland, she was not at the high school Monday. The 1st year English class will study Shakespeare’s “Merchant of Venice’’ as a classic for the 2nd semester. The 1st year German class will study Wilden- bruch’s “Der Letzte,” also a classic. Mr. Hoffer has been giving the poor writers in Miss Crab­ tree’s room special attention for the past week. A wonderful im­ provement has already b e e n noticed by the teacher. The 5th grade is making an extensive study of Oregon. They are using all the available out­ side material which makes the study more interesting.
