Dr. Hunter came to this country 45 years ago from London, where he was born in 1834. He settled in San Francisco. At one time he was a dep uty coroner of San Francisco. Dur ing the Crimean war Dr. Hunter serv ed three years in the English army as a surgeon — Portland Journal. Dr. Hunter was for several years a resident of Stayton, leaving here about six years ago. Their presence and influ ence will be appreciated and will aid them in conducting the affairs of tin- town and to carry out the wishes of the people.
