P2 THE SPOKESMAN • WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2021 NEWS IN BRIEF NEWS Shots fired into home; no suspects named yet On Jan. 28, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office received a report of gunshots heard in the area of the 8000 block of 9th St. in Terrebonne. Deputies responded and checked the area. They located a residence with damage consistent with being struck by bullets. DCSO Detectives responded to the scene, and assisted with processing the scene for evidence, and interview- ing the occupants of the home. No one in the residence was injured from the gun fire. County property tax drop box now available at City Hall Deschutes County residents can drop off second trimester property tax payments at the county’s new payment drop box at Redmond City Hall. The new drop box, which is lo- cated behind Redmond City Hall at 411 SW Ninth St., will be open during trimester property payment tax win- dows, which occur in late October to mid-November, late January to mid-February and late April to mid- May. “As we attempt to limit the expo- sure to and prevent the spread of COVID-19, our first priority remains the health, safety and security of our community,” said Greg Munn, the county’s treasurer and chief financial officer, in a press release. “We hope this new location makes it easy for residents who live in north- ern Deschutes County to return their property tax payments.” Payments can also be mailed, com- pleted online or over the phone, or dropped off at the Bend drop box at the Deschutes Services Building, 1300 NW Wall Street. EVENTS ‘Redmond Northern Lights’ will return to city hall The “Redmond Northern Lights” light show will take place with a Val- entine theme at Redmond City Hall Feb. 5-6 and 12-14 from dusk until about 9:30 p.m. The animated light show, presented in association with Lay it Out Events, Visit Central Oregon, and Travel Oregon, the Redmond Chamber of Commerce & CVB, will last between 5 and 10 minutes and play on a loop. Viewers are encouraged to remain in their vehicles or practice safe social distancing, wear masks and sanitize their hands. The show will include some “sweet- heart messages,” which can be submit- ted at redmondnorthernlights.com; each evening will have a limit of 10 messages. The committee position is a “fill-in” to complete the term due to a resigna- tion on the committee, which typically meets two to four times in April and May. The term ends June 30. Pepe is a senior cat (at least 7 years old) and is a bit more confident and pretty talkative when he is out and about. Minerva, about 3 years old, is more quiet and reserved. They are friendly and sweet cats that will be very loving once they settle into their new home. They have seemed friendly toward the other cats.
