Mr. Doherty stated he was not urging himself on the w. t side as a candidate, but that a number of Prineville people had urged him to come out for treasurer, and said they would -upport him. Mr. Doherty said the right man, coming out for treasurer or clerk, would draw votes from the east aide as well as the v»e*t side. Editor Putnam stated all the west aide was agreed on a man for commissioner, and as far as the present treasurer was con cerned he was well liked, anti that many people in Bend felt the same way as he did. and he did not think the» meeting should con sider any other candidate except for the office of county commis sioner. O. A. Pearce o f Madras, said as regards a candidate fo r lr<-.-. urer being put up at the meeting, that he was not in a position to commit himself. R. B. Gould, manager o f the Bend Commercial Club, aid he was in favor o f letting Prineville anti the east side have nil the o f fices to be filled at the coming election with the exception of county commissioner. G. W. Wells o f this city, was in favor of uniting on the one office— county commissioner— and working to the utmost to elect Mr. Bayley to that office. W. S. Rodman o f this city, moved that the meeting do not in dorse any candidate for an office except for county commis r which motion prevailed. C. S. Hudson o f Bend, presented a motion that carried which authorized Chairman Lynch to appoint a campaign committee ,, each section and polling place in the county to work fo r the , tion o f Mr. Bayley. Mr. Pearce o f Madras, brought up the question o f county dr sion and stated that the people in his section would like to gel t sentiment o f the delegates at the meeting in regard to the matt , W. S. Rodman o f this city, and other delegates, exjm ...j themselves as opposed to taking up the matter of county ,|m at this time, Mr. Pearce stated he was o f the opinion that n„. county division question would be taken up at the meeting but h.- would not press the matter any. further. No other business appearing before the convention the meet ing adjourned, after Chairman Lynch stated he would announce the names o f the members o f the campaign committee at a I ,t. r date.
