Kla math and Grant counties, during the session o f the House Monday after noon. and he virtually gave the lie direct to what Mr. tlagood had said on a vetoed bill In which Forbes was Interested, and said that " I f It Is true that llagooil represents Oovernor West at this session the governor made a bad mess o f his choic e.” Having previously spoken, tlagood did not reply, as he had delivered a long speech labelled "p o litica l” by his republican colleagues, who c h id ed him mildly for taking up the time o f the session by so doing. He per sisted. however, and made a hero talk for Governor West, Dr. Harry luine anil Geo. K. Chamberlain, who. he said, have been placed In their various high positions largely thru the opposition o f republican legisla tures anil republican city councils. The discussion was on the bill, ve toed by G overnor West at the last granting o f title by the government to certain swamp land settlers. Forbes declared that the bill was one which should pass, and It Anally did pass, but not before there had been much discussion, not altogether conAned to the bill Itself.
