A HOI BLAZE IASI NIGHI Firemen Saves Ad jacent Buildings Last night at 10:15 fire broke out in the large feed barn on 7th between K and F street*, owned by Matt Kulesch, and in a short time the building and the black smith shop adjoining were burn ed to the gmund. For a time the large livery stable of Mr. Kulesch next to the blacksmith shop was also in danger o f living burned down, but as there was no wind, the building was saved. The fire broke out in a burst o f flame in the upper part o f the feed barn where the hay was stored, and in less than five min utes the whole building was en veloped in flames. In the blacksmith shop a large quantity o f dynamite caps were stored, and when the fire reach ed these there was a contiuous explosion though no danger re- : suited. S. R. Snider's restaurant and the Henry & McFee commissary building across the street had a narrow escaiie from burning, and were only saved by heroic work on the part of volunteer firemen. This is the second and largest fire Redmond has had. and had there been any wind at the time the chances are that a large part of the business section o f the city would have been burned down. Mr. Kulesch had $2500 insur ance on the burned building and contents. The origin o f the fire is not known. The chemical engine did good work in assisting in saving the livery stable. Simpson's Millet Is 6 Feet High and Heads 8 Inches Long T. E. Simpson who has a small ranch in the canyon on the west l o f the city, brought in some sam- i pies o f Russian millet Monday raised on his place. The heads | o f the millet measured 8 inches I in length, and the grass grew ! nearly 6 feet high.
