The party left Portland Sunday night for a trip over the newly constructed road up the Deschutes Valley. The object is one of preparation aa well as of inspection. While it is desired to view the work thus far accomplished, arrangements will also be made for handling traffic on the new line as soon as it is ready for operation. Work now has progressed so far that the question of traffic is one that re- quires serious consideration. R. B. Miller, traffi manager of the road, traveled with the party in the special train to the end of the line so far construct- ed. after which the party took I automobiles for this city.
