Miss Smith, of Corbin City, and Miss Sybil Woodruff, of Euchre Creek, were attendants at the ball in Port Orford Saturday evening. THE STEAMER ARCATA, f The Arcata arrived up last 1 hurs day, and passed down Saturday ev James Gibson, who wes recently taken to the asylum from Gold Beach, in a violently insane condi tion, died a few days after his « n i val at that institution. His age is given at 74 years, rhereare sev eral men in the county very much older than he, some of whom are old enough to he his lather. Jake Summers, one ot the heroes ot Bat tle Rock, and who has resided in C urty county for more than fifty years, is, it is said, past DR- 1 hen there is Hon. T. W. Crook, who was a commissioned officer in our early Indian wars, who is much older than Judge Riley, he having passed the 86th milestone on his way to the happy beyond.
