HARPER, Ore., June 11, The shearing season for the plants near Harper is over and much of the wool has been consiimed to Port land and Eastern Markets. About one million pounds has been brought to the Harper Forwarding House, which now holds first place as a wool shipping point on the Oregon-lantern. Tho most of the wool hae been consigned, very little of it has yet been sold. pn Welsh is bavin? the build ing formerly used for an amuse- "ess tnent hall fitted up lor a restaurant. The building has been leased by Mrs. Jack Welsh of Westfnll who will began operating a first class restaurant as soon as the building is ready. Mrs. Welsh is well known in this section and will be wel comed into the business circle of Harper. Mrs. Budd Sherman and Mr. and Mrs. B. Schlupe made a business trip to Ontario this week. Louis Hucker and E. Mullen, own ers and operators of the Harper garage have about completed the addition to the old building and will soon be ready to conduct a much more extensive business in this line than has ever been conducted here. In addition to the garage they will have a well equlped black smith shop. The Fairman house being com structed on B Street by Earl God ding is nearing completion. Ihe house has been rented to L. A. Hucker. The Sunday School Picnic held at fith was verv much of a success, Over forty residents of the sur rounding country attended. The re gular Sunday School was conducted and service by Rev. W. E. Ellis. Mrs. Claude Wells and children are visiting relatives and friends in Vale this week. Rev. and Mrs. W. E. Ellis went to Riverside Tuesday where they will help conduct the Children's Day Exercises, June 13th. Johnny Turner is putting a coat of paint on his residence occupied by the Henry Hart family. Joe Cobum has installed a new soda fountain in his building on main street and will conduct a re gular ice cream and fountain busi- CRESTON Late Rainfall Assures Creston Farm er Of A Good Crop Called Home By Illness CRESTON, Ore., June 10. Cres ton Valley has been prospering since the rain, and the farmers are now assured of a good crop. T. R. Beers , and wife left Creston in the early part of the week for Vale where they are to transact some business at the Land Office. Mrs. John Stewart is on the sick list, but hopes soon to be well again. Mrs. Addlebery's sister has been visiting' her during the past week. Mrs. Smith came up from Vale to be with her sister Mrs. Stewart who is quite ill at the present writing. Sam Ferris was up to Creston on business. Budd Rogers went to Swanp Creek on business last week. John Stewart was called home last week b ythe sudden illness of his wife. Mr. and Mrs. Art Baird and Mrs. Bairds sister and nephew, Mrs. and Kenneth Murphy made a trip to Union to the Stock Show last week. , Mr. Murphy left for Portland this week wf.,ie his mother expectk to join him as soon as he finds location. Tommy Boston returned from Cot ton Wood to look after the ranch for the summer. Mi. Piersol and Tom Pennington made a trip to Payette a few days ago. Mr. Herner and Newt Hancock, of McCall, Idaho, visited Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Attebury recently. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Rix were here from Boise Monday, returning Tuesday. Mrs. Stone and daughter, Mr. Mathews and O. Ferman of Kuna, Idaho, spent a "few days with Mr. and Mrs. Barney Goul re cently. Mrs. Ella M. Rix a former resi dent of this place died in Boisa Saturday. The funeral services were conducted by, Rev. Adamson, at the undertaking parlors in Weiser Monday at 2 p. m. Mrs. Rix was born in California sixty three years ago, where she spent a good part of her life, later moved to Eugene bnd immigrated to this part of Ore pon with her husband and children about eighteen years ago, where she has, since lived until this spring she moved to Boise, hoping to re gain her health, however the change did no good and she gradually grew worse until the erfd. It will be remembered by her many friends that her husband died suddenly only about one year ago in the Payette depot, after a few hours illness. The sympathy of her friends are ex tended to the bereaved relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Barney Goul spent Monday and Tuesday with friends at Silver City, Idaho. Roger's Amusement Company, now showing in Payette, will show in Vale six days and six nights, commencing with June 15th and ending with the night show on the 19th. A $10,000 ferris wheel and a jumping horse merry-go-round are two of the special feautres. Some of the other attractions are "Ten Big Shows In One" having educated high school horses, doe deer, parrots, monkeys and strange people.
