Vale Honor Girls, Vale, Oregon, Dear friends: Just four days ago I received a letter from the Adjutant General of the Army at Washington, D. C. at taching a letter I had written to you a long time ago to thank you for the cleaning patches sent to B Company of this regiment. It takes about two months to get official communications thro on account of the rush. I can lay this accident entirely on my green dark who got the thing mixed up in mailing. I am very sorry. Then the express packages come I told the boys of II Company just how they happened to bo favored and they at once extended you a vote of thanks for the best gift the Company has over received and I think yes am sure some of them threatened to come to Vale some day to thank you in person. The only thing I regret for them Is that they are "Native Sons" of California instead of Oregonians. Your gift was indeed liberal and highly appreciated. Until you have been around an army you will never ap preciate how hard it is to keep a sup nlv of cleaning patches. A soldier treasures every stray bit of cloth je can secure. They all promised to "shoot straight" when they get "over there" and 1 am sure they will for they are doing so now. Kaiser Bill had best take to the woods when we all get there too for these boys mean it. You certainly can and shall share in that honor for your thoughtfulness and I labor are indeed one of the elements that make it possible for "our boys" 1 in fin Qn wpll.
