County Court Meets The County Court was in session Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Buys New Ford Mr. and Mrs. John Kircher joined the moter enthus ists club this week by the purchase of a new Ford Touring car from the Vale Hardware. Dunlop and Mrs. H. C. Eastham were at homo to about fifty ladies with an informal reception for Dr. Florence Dunlop visiting in Valo at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dunlop The many friends of Dr. Dunlop were pleasantly surprised when dur ing tho reception hours her engage ment to Lieutenant John Philip Strick ler of tho Medical Reserve Corps, was announced. Little Harriet Eastham carrying a dainty basket of pink and white distributed the tiny cards of announcement among the guests. Dr. Strickler is now in charge of a San Francisco hospital. The spacious rooms of the Eastham home were charmingly decorated in pink and white and under a bower of pink ribbons in the dinning room ices and cakes were served by Mrs. T. T. Nelsen and Mrs. C. C. Mueller as sisted by Mary Glenff, Mrs. Ernest Diven and Norma Hope. Mrs. C. C. Burrow and Mrs. G. F. Wildhaber pre sided over the punch table, Mrs. R. E. Weant also assisted about the rooms during the afternoon. Mrs. Andy Rose received the guests at the door. Musical numbers given were, Vocal solos by Mrs. H. E. Young and Mrs. George Huntington Currey, and in slrvmental and vocal numbers by Mrs. Grant of Butte, Montana, and a number of Victorola selections. Among the mnny guests of the afternoon were numbered the follow ing from out of town who are warm friends of Miss Dunlop. Mrs. J. W. A paper on Hendity and En viorment will be civen. Entertain at Bridge Mrs. A. W. Reed and Mrs. C. L. Crandall entertained a number of lad ies on Friday afternoon of this week at the home of Mrs. Reed. Four tables of bridge were played during the af ternoon and dainty refreshments wero served the guests who enjoyed a most pleasant social time. Visits From Kansas Mrs. L. A. Grabner of Lucern Kansas is a guest this week with her brother-in-law Mr. Grabner and Mrs. John Kircher her sister-in-law. Mrs. Grabner came by way of southern California and will return thru Yellowstone park. Of all the country she has passed thru on her visit eastern Oregon ap peals to her most and may bo the choice for future location. Will Visit Pendleton Mrs. A. G. Means and Mrs. Gerald Stanfield left the last of the week for Pendleton and other Umatilla county cities for a short visit with friends and relatives.
