Hope, of this city, who same from Kansas recently to visit Mr. Hope and family, have decided to make Vale their permanent home, and have rent ed housekeeping quarters in the city. Herbert Bilycau, of Spokane, vis iting his wife at the home of A. J. Kessler and family, this week. Mrs I. B. Quisenberry, who went to Portland recently for medical treat ment, arrived home Sunday. Henry Boswell, of Jamieson, was a business visitor in Vale the latter part of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan E. Oakes, who own a ranch near Jamieson, spent a few days in the city the latter part of last week. A. B. Cox was a Jamieson visitor in the city Sunday. Beulah S. Lewis was a Bonita vis itor in the city Sunday. E. F. Mackey came to Vale from Rome the fore part of the week, on a brief business visit. G. A. Emerson was a Stanfield, Oregon visitor Monday. H. G. A good crowd attended the attraction and left the theatre still discussing tho mysterious feats performed by the French magician. "The Magician's Supper," the second part of his act, was filled with surprises, nnd his card tricks were a source of astonish ment to everyone. Laurant was as sisted by Miss Helen Barnard, cornet soloist, who played a number or bugle calls of the army: Miss Marion Faville, pianist; nnd Fred Larsen, as sistant, all whom aro Chicago resi dents. Manager Quisenberry is high ly pleased with the success of the Lyceum course this year, and, al though from a financial standpoint, the result was a deficit, he realizes the public appreciates tho class of enter tainments tho Redpath bureau are sending him. Crowds During Court Week Auto mobiles nnd crowds filled the town this week, out-of-town witnesses on the big larceny case, jurors and law yers, nnd other court visitors filling the hotels to capacity, and at the Drexel hotel Wednesday night, some twenty visitors were turned away, tho rooms of the big hotel being filled to capacity. Eating houses and private boarding houses were also taxed, and the appearance of the streets, with rows of cars parked to the curbs, gave the town a decided metropolitan ap pearance.
