MALHEUR ENTERPRISE A CHANCE TO WIN A HOME In the lonesome cabin by the Mal heur river a batchelor you will find, and after I have fulfilled that prom ise made to Uncle Sam, and by which I mean to stand, if he would give me some of his fertile land in Oregon, I never once regretted it. I have made me a little home there, it has brought me a little rash, till no more I need to worry where I will get my bread and meat. In this little cabin, where I spent the happy hours of nineteen fourteen you may talk about the cooking that your mother did for you, say to "batch it" and to "rough it" would be beyond you, and that it takes a man with an iron will to go out into the hills and make a homestead I find that it is the life I love. In the lone some cabin by the river, you can look back to the old home where you spent vni.r rhildhnnd Inv, th orrhard, its fruit, picture the shady green spots by the old mill pond, and the spark ling springs of fresh water, and com pare it to the old lonesome cabin on the homestead, around which the coy otes howl, the scorpions creep, and horned toads go crawling by. Yet when I look back there is noth ing quite so homelike as the lonesome cabin by the river, with its three tiny windows, where I see the train each day in the distance, go whistling through our prosperous state, bring ing with it car loads of immigrants to the so-called desert lands. I have resided on my little home stead in "the little lonesome cabin by the river" patiently waiting, watch ing, hoping to meet some shy little mate whom I might ofTer to share life's happiness with but that shy little maid I have not met ro far so if there are any young ladies in this country, who wish to have a home of your own, speak up, write me, and do not be backward.
