However, there was a reason. It appeara that C. C. Hull, one of the local show, felt indisposed that day and asked his good friend Johnnie Kennedy, to manipulate the machine for him. Ever ready to accommodate a friend, and, incidentally, the show-going public Kennedy readily responded, assumed the role of manipulator and ; well, the inverted pictures resulted. While there could be no doubt about the position of the pictures which afforded added amusement to the recreative audience, yet its cause remained a mystery until the genial George Mills, who sells real estate, revealed the fact of Kennedy 'a pres ence behind the screen. GOULD SYSTEM MAY TAKE HAND It is asserted that plans of the Gould interests for extending their lines in the West have become known to the Harriman crowd, and that they seek now to "cut them off at the pockets" so as to embarrass them as much as possible. The proposed route to Portland has been definitely determined on, say Gould line offici ate. The survey has been mad as far north as Lakeview.
