Derrick of Jamieson is at tending this term of circuit court. J. F. Orr, of Payette, Idaho, man ager of the Idaho-Oregon Light & Power Company's Interests in this section of the inter-mountain country, was in the city Monday. Jack Ricker, of Ontario, interested in the local Interior Grain & Ware house Co., was a Vale business visitor Monday. Mr. Ricker is a member of the Ontario polo team. He stated that the game scheduled in Boise for last Sunday was called off on account of the rain. Twenty-four of the polo ponies had been shipped to Boise on Saturday evening. Messrs. Bert Cockrell and John Taylor returned from Willow creek Monday, where they have been doing grading for the Willow River Land and Irrigation company. Cockrell will return and take charge of the boarding house. Huntington News. On account of the downpour of rain the game of the Idaho-Oregon base ball league which were to have been played in Ontario and Vale on Sunday had to be posponed. The Nampa boys came to this city and the Boise team to Ontario. Attorney W. H. Brooke, of Ontario, was in town the past week on circuit court business. Right-of-way Agent A. 0. Harris was in the city Sunday and on Monday returned to headquarters at Salt Lake. Circuit Judge Dalton Biggs came from Ontario Monday to begin the April term of circuit court for this county. Attorney C. C. Wilson, of Nyssa has been attending circuit court dur ing the past week. Dr. J. F. Morell, of Portland, was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. A. Meresse over last Sunday. Miss Carrie Hopkins, who has a re sponsible position with an abstract company of St. Anthony, Idaho, ar rived in the city Saturday 'for a visit with the home folks. Miss Hopkins returned to her work Tuesday on her way stopping in Hailey to viait a few days with her sister, Miss Hazel Hop kins who is teaching in the public schools of that city. W. P. Saunders, of Westfall, was in the city this week. L. Adam, of Ontario spent several days in town this week. A. C. Lockett was in town from Jamieson Sunday. Mr. Lockett is one of the largest bee growers of the Willow River valley. Deane Goodman came in town Sun day from his home at Juntura to at tend the term of circuit court. J. M. Randelman was a Vale visi tor the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Richard DeArmond were in the city Sunday and on Mon day they went to Boise for a short visit. They were accompanied to Boise by Miss Mabel McLaughlin. C.H. West away was in town on business Monday. Joe Wagner, of Brogan, spent sev eral days in town the fore part of the week. Elmer Clark, of Caldwell, spent Monday in town. Mr. Clark was in terested in the securing of an electri cal franchise for the Idaho-Oregon Light & Power company in this city. Miss Addie Thebo, of Payette, was the guest of Miss Mabel McLaughlin this city last Sunday. Joe Wagner returned to Brogan Tuesday after a short business trip to this city and Boise. Mrs. J. S. Edwards went to Jamie son and Brogan the first of the week with a fine lot of millinary where she put on several days' sale. Mr. and J. R. Weaver came up from Ontario Tuesday on a visit. John Norwood was in town the fore part of the week from his Jamieson ranch. S. P. Colt, one of the best known mining men of the Mormon Basin min ing district, has been in the city the past week on business. Dr. Drake, veterinarian for the Utah Construction company, arrived in the city Tuesday and spent several days here on official ousineas. W. M. Im Vale ' A' , Supplementary articles of incorpor ation were filed with County Clerk Frank Morfitt this week whereby the Malheur Development Company be comes known as the Interstate Land & Loan Company. The incorporators are S. D. Dorman, M. A. Camp and A. W. Trow. Mrs. D. H. Ash ton came up from Ontario Monday on a visit to friends and former neighbors. Articles of incorporation were filed with County Clerk Morfitt Thursday for the Nob Hill Pipe Line company. L. A. Lovinger, of Jamieson, has been in the city the past week and on Wednesday went through degree work in the local Masonic lodge. After the business session, Mesdames J. A. Hoskins and Albert Lockett of Jamie son, Bisters of Mr. Lovinger, served the Masons with a splendid banquet in the dining rooms of the lodge hall at the Odd Fellows building. MONEY IN POETRY AND H0GRA1SING Pamphlets Being Sent Out by Agricultural College Urges Boys and Girls to Raise Chickens and Hogs Which are Oregon's Greatest Needs J. J. Burbridge, manager of The Riley Institute of Boise, Idaho, was in the city Wednesday in the interest of that well known institution which was recently stared by Miles Riley a former resident of this county, for curing the liquor habit. Attention ia called to the advertisement of the Riley Institute in this issue. One of the best local talentjproduc tions vere presented in this city was "Alma'a Garden Party" at the Bun galow theatre on Friday evening of last week. The parts were well sus tained and those who figured in the cast of characters are deserving of much praise. The musical production was given under the auspices of the Civic Improvement Club. One hundred thousand copies of pamphlets for the purpose of inter esting the school children in work along poultry and hog raising, are be ing circulated by the extension divis ion of the Orpgon Agricutural Col lege. These in part are explaining the movement which was told of here the fore part of the week by N. C. Maria of Portland, and will have a tendency in interesting the boys and girls of this section in the proposed school fair. One of the bulletins tells the boys and girls of the egg problem. It says that one of the greatest needs of Oregon Is the production of poultry and eggs, and that in 1911 Oregon secured 26,000,000 eggs and 400,000 pounds of dressed poultry from the middle West states. It is hoped that the children will become interested in this industry and the pamphlet tells of the best breed of chickens, hous ing, feeding, incubating and brooding. The second bulletin tells the hoys how to raise prize winning pigs as well as pigs for the market. Oregon also sends millions of dollars annually to other states for meat supply. TUNNEL WORK AT MILE POST 39 UNDER WAY Wattis Visits Canyon Camps and Reports Railroad Construction on the Ore gon Eastern Progressing Rapidly-Grade Completed to Canyon Railroad work is progresr ing along rapidly in the Malheur canyon, accor ding to E. O. Wattis one of the mem bers of the Utah Construction Com pany, which haa the contract for the j building of the first division of the Oregon Eaatern railroad fromthia city to Dog Mountain over in Harney coun ty. Mr. Wattis returned from a trip to the canyon camps Friday afternoon and when interviewed by a represent ative of the Enterprise stated that conisderable work had already been done at the big tunnel at the Mile post 39. Boring operations are under way on both ends of the 2000-foot tun nel and good headway is being made. Accord ing to the complaint filed by Attorney R. G. Wheeler of this city, the couple was married in Minnesota in 1891, an the plaintiff now lives in Malheur county. The complaint further slates that the defendant has an ungovern able temper he cannot control and has made married life unbearable for the wife. Another divorce suit filed in the lo cal circuit is that of Frank Sigerist against Mary J. Sigerist. They were married in Burns in 1909, and the plaintiff was deserted by his wife on April 7, 1911, and she has since re fused to return home. Hayes & Cran dall are the attorneys for the plaintiff.
