King, who is legal ndtUer to Srcreturv of the Interior Lane, ha. been In this section this week looking after irrigation and drainage matters. He is much In favor of the counties of Harnev and Miilli-ur uniting on irrigation matters and fei I- ci rtiuo of the cooperation of the government I'Ih- Malheur lakee can be drained nt small cost and the waters used to irrigate tin. lands lower down, dams can be placed In therivers and waters Impounded to regulate tbe flow of the Malheur and Improve nil the sti-teiiis using water from that stream, the government charging a small lev for tbe service. He believea a system can lie built to cover a large pail of the high IhihI Iu this section at a cost not to exceed t '.'' an acre. Another matter Ihat appeals to him Is the establishing of diaiiuige dla tncts, a at present anion land la being diisttovml i lack of draiuage. which can he cheaply and eaally re claimed tiy establishing drain ditchea.
