TH E TU R N E R TR IB U N E JF. |1. Snmlrif. Ciutnr Issued Every Thursday at Turner, Mjjrion County, Oregon SUBSCRIPTION $1.25 PER YEAR. Entered at the Poatofflce at Tumor, Oregon, as soeond-clasa matter, under the Act of March 3, 1879. Col. Edwin M House, whose responsibility for some of Pres ident Wilson's most serious errors at the Peace Conference were reco/nized by Mr. Wilson through the exclusion of Mr. House from the late president's friendship, has come to light attain with an article in Collier’s in which he declares that the United States is “ blocking the road to peace", presumably to peace in Europe, since we have peace and no fear of war in this hemi sphere. W e “have lost moral prestige in the eyes of the world because of our selfish timidity." The European powers want peace, but we refuse to let them have it, thinks Colonel House. Probably no more stupid and unjust accusation was ever made against this country than the one frequently on the lips of our Europeanized internationalists, to the effect that the attitude of the United States toward Europe has been selfish, narrow and ignorant; because, forsooth, we have not brought peace to a continent upon which a dozen wars, inspired by selfishness and greed, have been staged since America turned to the ways of peace at the close of the World W ar. W e are responsible for the lack and the will to peace in Europe because we do not supply it. Could inverted logic go farther? SUM M ONS No. 17581. Attorney fo r Plaintiff. W e notice headlines in all the papers regarding the hot weather in the East. Many have already died from the heat. Thit is quite a contrast with the Willamette Valley section of Oregon. It has been exceptionally cool and rainy this summer but from what we have seen we are convinced that no state can beat Oregon, taken on the average, for crops. Even flax grown on the hill lands in some cases has already reached the height of 36 inches and not yet at the blossoming stage. There should be lots of 38 to -fT inch flax this year. There will also be an abundance of hay and grain. N O T IC E OF H E A R IN G O F F IN A L ACCOUNT SUMMONS In the Circuit Court o f the State o f Oregon fo r the County o f Marion, Department No. 2.
