The Domestic Science d ep a rtm en t has a separate building especially a d a p t ed for the purpose and the facilities of Chem aw a in this line are equaled by only one other school in the Service. 9. In th e L iterary D epartm ent, the instruction covers the branches tau g h t in G ram m ar schools of the country. The school was established by M ajor W ilkinson, F eb ru ary 25, 1880, being the second oldest N on-reservation school in the U nited States. From a sm all school of tw enty-five children it ha« grown step ov step from year to year. I he school year closed with 882 boys and 266 girls on the rolls.
