DEPARTMENT OF INDIAN EDUCA TION TO HE HELD AT DENVER The program has been completed for the 1909 meeting of the Department of Indian Education, which will be held at Denver, Colorado, June 5 -to 9, inclusive; coincident with the annual convention of the N. E. A. An important feature of the Indian meeting will be the demonstration les sons, which will be presented by experi enced teachers with classes of Indian pupils, showing how the class-room and industrial work ma)7 he closely correlated. A number of leaders in educational lines will address the sessions of the In dian Department, on subjects bearing directly on the immediate and practical needs of the Indian. An exhibition of class-room work, as well as specimens of native arts and crafts, will enable the employes to ac quire many profitable ideas and sugges tions from a study of the work in the various schools. Employes will also have the opportun ity of attending the general sessions of of the N. E. A., as well as the meetings of the various departments of the associa tion. Many of the topics to be discussed at these sessions particularly those of the departments of child study, kinder garten, elementary, manual training and agriculture are closely related to prob lems often met in the Indian school ser vice. Special rates will be granted by the railroads to Denver and return, particu lars of which can be obtained by in quiring of local ticket agents.' A large number of delightful side trips into the Rockies and other points of interest may be made from Denver at a nominal cost. The local executive committee is ar ranging a series of entertainments, and it is safe to say that employes attending the meeting will enjoy a most pleasant, as well as instructive visit. SOCIETIES Y. W. C. A. The members of the Y. W. C. A. held their regubir meeting last Wednesday evening. The meeting was opened by the hymn, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus " We were then led in prayer by Miss Rover, liol 1 was called, a number of members being absent. We then sang another song entitled, "1 Will Sing the Wondro s Story." Sara Brewer was the leader for the evening; her topic was, "The Finding of Faith," which she read to us. Helen Dillstrom read "Losing .Self in Christ" from ''Lessons of Love " Miss Royer then spoke a few words on the fcubject, and the secretary read the minutes of the previous meeting, after which 'another hymn was sung. We then had a season of prayer, sang the parting song, repeated our watchword and adjourned.
