l'he pupils were given recess on Thurs
day. James Wilcox is a new addition to
the woodshed force.
The electricians put the lights up in
Mitchell Hall this week.
Patsie Loftus is now practicing on the
trombone for the second band.
The pupils were glad to get their pic
tures of the different groups, shops,' etc ,
which they had ordered- some time ago
of Mr. Lowenfeld, the Salem photograph
er. ,
John Stankus made the buttonrhole3
in a fly for a pair of trousers being .made
by Willie Bains and it is by this means
that John Stankus is progressing step by
step. This fly making is the first .step
and makes it easier to take the next step
and ,it would; be impossible for ahy boy
to make a pair of trousers unle he
first learns to make the fly with its
button-holes.
Excelsior.
The Excelsior Literary Club held their
regular session Thursday evening in the
usual place of meeting, and after roll w,is
called and minutes read and approved,
the club was' rtady for business. It was
decided to give a public entertainment
in the near 'future.' After the reports' of
committees were read we proceeded with
the mock trial which had been referred
to a higher court from the last meeting.
Quite sin interesting timf was spent in
trying to confuse. witnesses; and to prove
the defendant guilty or not guilty.
Harry Jones, of the tteliance Society,
was engaged by the prosecuting attorney
to help with the case, and from the in
terest shown by those in attendance we
think that this form of debate is inter
esting to all who attend. Manuel Swan
son was counsel for the defendant.

interested visitors at the trial,
