Good morning Mr. Santa Glaus! Ah,
the good cheer 'throughout the Christ
mas world today! Thousands of people
will know the joy olgiving and receiv
ing. There will befitting observance of
this holy holiday in every Christian
clime, and instruments and voices shall
be tuned together for, a rendition of the
mighty symphony in the name of the
Messiah the Christ. All will be joy so
far as it shall be within the power of
.thoughtful minds, loving hearts and
willing hands to make it so.
- Hut in spite of all that can be done
there must, saddening as is the thought,
remain many unfortunates who shall
know, now none of the joys and blessings

New Year,
CHRISTMAS NOTES.
Owning to,the rush of getting ready
for the Christmas festivities our issue
this week simply uives the programs
and hardly tells what has been done, so
next week we will give our readers :i
full account of the. Christmas festivities,
Certainly things were "popping" this
week in getting ready. The popcorn
was raised at the school; shelled by flu
little boys, and popped in the kitchen,
In another department could be seen
candy bags being filled with orangey
apples, candy and nuts.
Then again in another place Santa
Claus was looking over presents to he
given to the pupils of Chemawa. .,
Then over in the school house every
body was getting ready for the enter
tainment and for the exercises on Christ
mas morning.
Even out on the football gridiron
could be seen both the first and second
teams busily engaged, getting ready;
the second team for the game Christmas
Day with the Albina Athletic Cluh of
Portland, and the first team for their
game with the Catholic Young Men's
Club in Portland the day after Christ
mas. i In the big gymnasium Mr, Woods
and his force were putting up the Christ
mas tree and getting ready for Santa to
put his presents thereon.
On Tuesday the girls visited Santa
Glaus in Salem and on Wednesday the
boys had a chance to do the same.
This article was written right in the
midst of the Christmas hurry, and as
mentioned above, a full account of the
festivities will be given in our next issue,
