CHRISTMAS HINTS,
Do your shopping early and get the
best. '
Giving toys to young ladies and gentle
men irf decidedly Had taste.
The little fellow likes marbles, candy,
knife, pencil, ball and drum.
Remember that there is more pleas-
ure in giving than receiving.,
Music, flowers, fruit and bonbons are
pleasant reminders of Christmas.
The little girl always likes a doll, and
perhaps forne dishes, candies too..
It is not the gift that gives the tone to
Christmas greetings, but --the spirit in
which it is given.
Do not count the number of presents
you are receiving, but count the number
of presents you are giving.

Serviceable handkerchiefs, neckties,
gloves, mittens, scarfs, ribbons, combe,
good books and pictures, stationery,

Decide first on what you want to get
before you start out for your Christmas
(hopping or you will be very apt to buy
foolish and expensive things in the rush
of crowded stores that you never intend
to get.

If you can't afford togive presents, and
it would be almost a robbery if you did,
then do not do so; but you can always
give kind words, good wishes and make
it altogether a cheerful Christmas for
every one.

Nonpareil.
The Nonpariel Literary Society met
in the usual place of meeting 'last 1 hurs
day evening. - The house was called to
order by the President and the roll was
called. As it was the time to elect new
officers there was no regular program
arranged. The result of the election was
as follows: , President, Eugene Williams;
Vice-President, Calvin Darnell; Secre
tary, Viola Ferris; Treasurer, Henry
Darnell, Sergeant-at-Arms, Levi Sortor;
Ast. Sergeant-at-Arms, Mary Gibeau; Re
porter, Dollie Case; Asst. Reporter,. Matil 4
da John. Before adjourning Joe Purns
and Pedro Chevio became members of
the society by the unanimous vote of
the members present.
Y. W. C. A.
The members of the Y. W. C. A. held
their regular meeting last Wednesday
evening. The meeting was opened by a
song entitled, "In the Heavenly Pasture
Fair.,, Katie Brewer then led in pray
er. The roll. wras called, and each mem
ber responded to her name with a
Bible verse. We then sang another song
and had a season of prayer. Dora Clau
son was the leader for the evening and
her tcpic was, "Lessons taught by
Christ " and she save an interesting talk
on the subject. Mrs. Chalcraft, Miss
Rbyer and a few of the members made
some remarks. The report of the devo
tional committee was read and the clos
ing song was sang and we repeated our!
watchword ancl adjourned.
