THE CHEMAWA AMERICAN -7 A HAPPY GATHERING Again the Seniors enjoyed another social event, when Mrs. Campbell, prin cipal teacher, gave a party in honor of the aforesaid "to be" Alumnus, last Thursday evening. We have passed through various stages of student activi ties, and attended various social gather ings, but this was the most enjoyable time we have ever spent; in fact, there was something doing all the time. In the first, place as each member of the faculty arrived we had an introduc tion, shortly after which the gentlemen made suggestions, asking for someone to sing a solo, but instead of that the motion was transferred that Margaret Lowry should give a piano ?olo, which she did. This started the fun, when we all introduced ourselves to our invited friends. Next in order was a "guessing game" consisting of fifteen questions entitled "Pass the Pie." Miss Royer, one of the teachers, received the first ladies prize a beautiful vase; and Mr. Bovven received the gentleman's prize, a book. Harry Queachpalma received one of the con solation prizes and Mary Loftus received the other. These consolation prizes were indeed a consolation, as they were pies, filled with juicy blackberries. The letter S (for Seniors) was on each pie. Enjoyable music' was furnished dur ing the evening. Miss Irene Campbell and Miss Gertrude Brewer presided at the piano and their fine playing was en joyed by all of us. Margaret Lowry, Dollie Case and Martin Sampson of '08 were the principal musicians among the pupils. In the meantime pur,ch was in readiness for ihose who wanted it. Lit tle Neta Jones was kept busy serving it to the boys and girls. Lunch was served about 11 o'clock. Mrs. Campbell and Miss Irene were assisted by Gussie Cameron and Mattie Zimmerman, and the Seniors and their friends surely did justice to the bountiful supply of cake, ice cream and strawberries served to them. The decorations of the home were in the class colors, cream and white. Cream and white roses were everywhere, the class pennant presented by Mrs. Campbell being in the reception hall. Chemawa pennants and red . and white bunting were hung around the room. ' Everybody was laughing and having a good time every minute of the evening. After the luncheon, the happy crowd again discovered a new scheme of form ing a firmer and closer friendship, by passing the question papers around for signatures of those who were present, and after we were through the employees passed out and all thanked Mrs. Camp bell for the enjoyable evening spent. The students then took their departure for their respective quarters and thank ed Mrs. Campbell for the evening like wise. The event is long to be remember ed, especially by the Seniors. Senior. 4 Alex Lee is now working in the bakery. The blacksmiths are busy repairing the old wagons, hacks and mowing ma chines. ' . ! The tailors have been busy all last week repairing uniforms for the boys. They are issuing and marking--summer underwear for the medium-sized boys this week.
