V Patsy Barrett is working in the tailor shop Christina Victor takes great pride in her sewing. Wm. Johnson is one of the sweepers at Brewer Hall. . Agnes hepa'rci is now working in the sewing room. . W m. Wiley does good work for Mrs. Dotierty atf Brewer Hall. . The gardeners are working in the strawberry patch. The bakers baked three thousand and sixty-iour loaves oi Dreaa last weeK. George-Baker,' one of our best workers, was in the hospital for a few days. Mr.'Westley says tiiat the outlook for the fruit crop this year is very good. Jimmie Joe is how working in the garden and' enjoys his work very much. Ernest1 David was trimming the , hedge on Tuesday and it looks very nice. ; r ' i-v'c;. Mrs; Doherty has been spading up around Brewer Hall and planting some flower seeds."1' The carpenters are building the new wagon shed very rapidly. It will be of great help to the farmers The wagon makers are keeping the blacksmiths busy putting on the iron and setting up the wagons. Miss Skipton is very much pleased with the work the girls in her depart ment have done on the" garments they had to make ' r ' l-v'. f'''-' '" Third Annual Meet. Last Wednesdays evening the members of the Chemawa Young Men's Christian Association held their third annualmeet at Old Chemawa. Quite a number of the male employes of the school were present. The list of events for the even ing was lost; and we had only; afew events as follows: 7 nxil. ,. ,,M'n; Fifty-yard dash, 100 yard dash, stand ing"; broad jump and boxing contests. The events resulted as follows: Fifty yard dash, Joe Dillstrom 1st, Joe Wig gins 2nd, H. Queachpalma 3rd ; .100 yard dash, A. Francis 1st, Jv Wiggins 2nd, H. Queachpalma 3rd; standing broad jump, L; Sortor 1st,' W. Miller 2nd," M . Wilson 3rd; boxing contests, A. Pollock vs. A. James, Pollock won; T. McCully' vs. A. Garry, McCully won: J. Dillstrom vs. Wm. Burke, Dillstrom won. ... After the above events were all over the following short program was well rendered : Song, "Leader of Company B," Che-In-Tra quartet; Vocal Solo, Thomas McCully; Trio, Rink, Booth and McCullv; Vocal Solo, Martin Samson. During the rest of the time while , the, cooks were busy preparing the. lunch for our supper, the young, men separated themselves into several groups singing hymns and other songs. When the, waiters called for volunteers to -'eat," we all rushed to the table and all volun teered. Before eating we sang a song, "Holy, Holy, Holy," and had a voluntary prayer by M a rtin Sampson. , Mr. Camp bell seemed be a great favorite among the long-distance runners. Certain ones said they hated to be one of the run ners' that night, but they would like to be one of the runners after the relay race when the time comes for them to eat cakes, etc. After the luncheon we had . short ad dresses by Messers. Chalcraft, Campbell, Teabo, Larsen, Fickle, Cox; and also i some of the young men as. follows: Thomas McCully, Eugene Williams, Martin Sampson, and Frank Booth, and o the president. This ended the meeting at a late hour and we repaired for our quarters, ... .. M n :
