THE CHEMAV rA AMERICAN 5 SOCIETIES T. M. C. A., Jr. The Junior Y. M C. A. met in school room No. 8 last Wednesday night. Being as we had just organized last week we did not have our regular meeting, but got settled, then Mr. Garry gave us a few words on the work of the association. TwQhasketball teams were- organized. My. Garry then dismissed us with a prayer and we retired to our quarters. . Y. K.'C. A. : The members of the Young' Men's Christian Association met in their usual : place last Wednesday. After singing "Jesus is Calling" ive had -a short prayer by the temporary secretary. Another song was sung, ''Blessed Assurance," ; which wasfollowed by an election to the office of secretary to finish the term, Webster Hudson being elected. We then had a short talk by Peter Seltice, who, as Vice-President of the Associa tion, was presiding. Business was called for, but there being so many absentees 'we could not transact any business. Another song was sung, "God be With You," which was followed by a dismissal prayer by Walter Haight. We then adjournal. ..... Y. W, C. A. The Y. W. C. A, held their meeting, ir. the usual place last Wednesday evening and opened by singing "Blessed Assurance," which was followed by' a prayer. Roll was called, some of the members being absent. Another song, "Blessed be the Fountain," Was sung. Bessie Chiloquin read a scriptural verse from the Bible and they sang, "Jesus Savior Pilot Me." The topic for, the evening was, k'Our Christian Duty," led by Bessie Chiloquin. The association then repeated their watch word and ad journed for the evening. Brevities Mrs. Lephart, our assistant cook, went to Salem Thursday afternoon. Last Sunday the Bible students had a review of their lessons in 1907. Mr. Bowen and his force of boys are fixing the grounds by the plumber shop. Mr. Smith put up more lights yester day on the outside corners of the school commissary. James Smith is taking the plaster down in the printing office so as to put in large windows. The harness makers are very busy making a set of heavy harness and it will be finished some time this month. Mrs. Cox took her dining hall, girls oat to see the new bakery and the new hospital, Tuesday afternoon, and they, enjoyed themselves very. much. You people of Oregon .feel this is winter time; but we,. who have been in the East and in Alaska, it reminds us of Spring, for the roses bloom and the birds sing, J : ' The gardeners are pruning in the orchard and some of the boys say that it is too cold to prune in the morning. Walter Miller is our boss in the morning and he is a good one. James Judge Grant, one the Govern ment employes from Nez Perce Agency in Idaho, is attending some business at the Umatilla Agency in Oregon, lie is going back to Idaho, after he gets his business in good shape. He says he is pleased with the religious meetings they have had there and to see so many converted.
