Joe Brignone came just in time to play short stop in the game with The Dalles team. Miss Backofen, a former nurse of this school, now at Denver, Col. sent Walter Haight a good-luck pin. Mr. Roy A. McDowell student of Willamette University is employed as night watchman temporarily. Clarence Cooper entertained a few friends Wednesday evening, ths occasion being his thirteenth birthday. . Bob Cameron printed the official badges for use at the field-meet, and Webster Hudson printed the. tickets. Both, did neat work. The printers missed John McCush very much this week. He is in the hos pital, but will soon be back in the mail ingroom. . , Mrs. Cloutier took her 8th Grade boys to Old Chemawa and cleaned it from papers, tin cans and other unsightly ! things on Friday afternoon, j Subscribe for the Chemawa Ameri j can". P. and a good friend of Chemawa, is recovering from a severe illness which has kept him in a Portland hospital for some time. Misses Lalor, Postley and Campbell and Messrs. Larsenand Brewer attended the play "Madame DuBarry" by Mrs. Leslie Carter. Mrs. Campbell, Brewer Woods, Teabo and Misses, Miller, Brown, Luedke and Johnston escorted the young ladies to to the field-meet with Willamette on Wednesday. On account of sickness at home, Mrs. Bewleyd left on Tuesday evening to be gone for several days. The mess cer tainly misses her pleasant face and other goodthings. . ' Miss Lalor was in ' Salem Tuesday, afternoon searching for a cook. As she was unable to get one, she flipped the hot cakes for breakfast the next morn ing. The employes survived however. Fortunato Jayme, who has been at tending Willamette University the last year, has been exempted from the final examination, having received excellent ratings during the entire year. Decoration Day was observed as a hol iday. Appropriate services were held in in the school chapel. The pupils then marched to the cemetery, headed by the band playing Chopin's Funeral March. Every pupil earned bunches of roses and other flowers. The large flag was filled with roses and carried by Henry Dill strom, Orin French, Philip and Elmer Sorahan. The graves were beautifully and lavishly decorated.
