THE CHEMAWA AMERICAN 5 Societies Estelle Reel The Estelle Reels met in their usual place. In the absence of the President, Luelle Ryan the Vice-President presided." After an interesting meeting, the follow ing program was well rendered. Song, society quartet; Recitation, Ruth Brew er; Recitation, Annie Souvigner; Song, Hazel Pecard; Reading, Nellie Shepard; Song, Nellie Boswell and Luella Ryan, Hiawatha' An interesting and pleasant meeting was held by the Hiawatha club last Friday evening. After the roll call was given the program which was carefully and well rendered being heartily appla used time after time, by the club mem bers, who were perfectly satisfied, and a -journed somewhat elated over their meeting. Following is the program: Song, Wm. Beach; Comic . Reading, Lee Evans; Recitation, Frank Coburn; Song, Hiawatha Quartette; Riddles Gus Benson: Violin and guitar duett, Max Barnaby and Michael Anthony; Current events, Robert Davis; , Song,; Thomas Mc'Cully; Story, Albert Garry; Closing song by Club. The feature; of the even ing was the singing of Wm, Beach and, the Instrumental duett by Max Barnaby and Michael Anthony. . After the program was given some, bus iness of less importance was transacted after which we bade each other 'good night. Nonpareil The Nonpareil Society, met in their usual place of meeting. The house was called to order by the president. Roll was called and minutes f previous meet ing read and approved. Membership committee no report. Two visitors Levi Sortor and Paschal ' George were admitted. The following program was rendered : Opening ' Address, Ella Brewer; Song, Irene Peone; Recitation, Bessie Chilo quin; Jokes, Minnie Howard. A most interesting dehate followed, The sub ject was "Resolved: That education is more useful to mankind than wealth." It was hotly contested on both sides but the judges decided in favor of the affir mative. The speakers were as . follows Affirmative: Violet Berner, Anna Hauser, Negative, Lizzie'Frazier, Anita McLaugh lin. After the debate our visitors made very complimentary speeches to the Society, Excelsior The Excelsior Literary Society met in their usual place ' with the new officers presiding we did not carry out the prog ram we made, for the evening, but had a rehearsal, of our entertainment which you will find in this column of this paper., EXCELSIORS PROGRAM - I, Opening address Robert Cameron : 2 .Selection!-.
