THE CHEMAWA AMERICAN 5 The Indian school won two and lost one basketball game on Saturday. In the afternoon the second Indian team defeated the Mute School team by a 6Core of 18 to 14 in a good game played in the Indian School gymnasium. The line-up was as follows: Chemawa Position Mutes Darnell F Probst Williams F - Lynch Goudy, Holden C Emerick Charles G Tichenor Wiggins G Lindster Baskets were thrown' as follows: Dar nell 1, Williams 1, Goudy 2, Holden 1, Charles 2, Lynch 2, Ermick 2, and Lin Bter 1. In addition, each team added 4 points to its score by goals from fouls. The Chemawa second basketball team, after defeating the mute school Satur day by a score of 14 to 18, was not con tent with its lurals, but in the evening repeated the dose, this time to the Woodburn High School, whom they defeated by score of 12 to 11. This was one of the prittiest and .fastest games overplayed at Chemawa. Trie visitors showed considerable teamwork, but' the sturdy red men were too much for them. It was anybody's game until time was called, the first half ended '5 to 4 in favor of Woodburn, but " in the second half the Indians added 8 to' their ' score while Woodburn were : able to throw only three baskets, thus shutting them out by one point. Chemawa threw six baskets Darnell two., Goudy three, and Williams one. Woodburn '-threw four baskets Austin one,: Fisher one,", and Flinn two and than added three to their score on account t of fouls. Mr. Brewer and the boys have been blasting stumps cn the side-hill south of the new barns. Mr. Swartz' farm boys have been busy at the lower farm, plowing and getting ready for Spring seeding. ... Mr. Hulden with a force of boys have peen clearing the location for the calf lot in connection with Chemawas new barns. ' Mr. Chalcraft and the engineering force have been very busy at the boiler house installing the new heater in con nection with the boilers and making oth- 1 1 i -I er necessary alteration ana repairs. A good substantial four foot plank walk has been constructed from the., school to the new electric car line, which has been extended irom the school line to the:permanent station, and . the first oatr will run fri m that, nnint, tnmnrrnw . morning. Mr. Westley and his gardners have been to the Nursery; re-planting the trees in the orchard and planting apples, prunes and other trees and preparing the ground for Spring planting. Also, a force have been spraying Chemawa's orchard, which with the plowing and hauling of manure and delivering of vegetables to the kitchen has kept the gardners very busy. Mr. Smith and the plumbars have been busy completing the installation of the electric lights in the girls new lava- boys' building, which, were remodelled this summer, but in which no lights were installed owing to" the supplies not reaching us from Chicago.
