Mrs. Colby of Portland visited her foster daughter Zintka last Friday. Miss Effie Harold of the Salem Busi ness, College was the guest of Miss Harold on Sunday. Who said that some are so slow that by the time they get to breakfast the cream is sour? Miss Alice B. Preuss, formerly teacher at Lapwai, Idaho, reported for duty as nssistant clerk the 26th of May. What would you think of a third grade pupil who would write "fiunt" for front and "jest" for just? The hospital has recently become a very popular place. The nurse is so pleasant and the doctor so interesting. Joseph, Henry, Helen, Clara, Elmer, and Arthur Dillstrom arrived from Yreka, Cal. Sunday and were admitted. Have you noticed how much the mid dle sized boys' home has improved? It will soon be the best building on the grounds. Mrs. Rushmore, Mrs. Reardon and little Rosie and Chester, of Portland, were the guests of Miss O'Here Friday and Saturday of last week. , Thursday last a young lady stepped in to the sewing room and asked for a "domestic science" needle! Have you any? No, was the reply but she was sat fied when a domestic needle was given her. Mrs. Campbell went to Salem on busi ness Tuesday last. Bicycle riding is the lateHt fad' at the small girls' home. We noticed in the Carisle paper that Eugene Geffe is a member of the Stan dard society at that school. Over five hundred pupils and employes spent a large part of the day in the ceme tery strewing flowers on the graves of our loved ones in memory of De coration Day. The Mutes met their second defeat at the hands of our second team last week. The feature of the game was the umpir ing of Eugene Williams, who can cer tainly handle the indicates to perfection. The Y. W. C. A. held a recognition service last Wednesday and brought in about six new members who were as follows: Miss Shahan, Lizzie Beaver, Addie Cameron, Sarah Wilbur, Hazel Ferris and Nora Van Pelt. They were cordialy welcomed. The wonderful invention of Marconi's, wireless telegraphy, is being used at Chemawa a good deal, by the pupils especially. Although the method used is not exactly the same as the famous Marconi sy-aern, yet it seems to work to perfection, for further particulars apply to Charles Payne as he is a real genius for small inventions. What is the matter with the eighth grade boys? Are they graduate singers? Why, there were only four in the singing class last Monday evening. Poor, four! They said that they have to sing with all their might to keep up with the other classes. Robert Davis and Leon Parker could hardly talk when we came out from the chapel for singing too much. Good for j$u, two boys, it will do you lots of good.
