Some boys have the lazy habit of go ing to meals without washing their hands and faces, their hair is never combed in fact they seem to be made on the don't care plan. Have a little pride, boys, brace up and respect your face and hair by washing and combing before meals. On Wednesday afternoon, April 18, news reached Chemawa over the tele phone that an earthquake had struck San Francisco. That many buildings had collapsed and fire was raging over that beautiful city and over 2,000 people was killed. At the present writing the city is still burning. The loss of life compared with that of other catastrophes is small, but the loss of wealth is much greater. Words cannot express the horror of the situation. People all over Oregon has responded liberally to the call for help. Carloads of food and supplies are being sent daily to the stricken populace. All is being done that is in the power of human being to alleviate the suffering. There must be a city at that port as commerce needs it. Time and work and energy will remove the ravages of the earthquake, and a more beautiful and substantial city will rise again.
