Enjoy the spring, boys and girls, enjoy
it. Watch old mother natAire's cunning
hand as she puts on her garb green, and
wonder at the beauty of it -all. Don't
forget, also, to ask yourselves why all
this world was beautifully fashioned by
the great architect for your enjoyment.
This revival of nature is a wonderful
thing, and there is a lesson in it for us
all. The sap of life is in the leafless
tree, and which devoid of its green cov
ering stands a gaunt, sorry looking ske
leton of its former self, hot dead actually,
but to all appearances lifeless. It is just
the same with your body and mine. We
possess the gum of immortality, and
some day our Spring will come, and em
bodies, toall appearances dead, will burst
fourth again into life that knows no end
ing. Yes, there is a lesson in Springtime
for us all. Heed it my friends, school
mates, for it is nature's way of reminding
us of its revival and ours. A non vmous.
Our girls basket ball team have dis
banded for the season and is doing to
leave record clear of defeat. They played
but two games though the first with
Corvallis which was a victory, the scire
being J 9 to 11 in favor of Chemawa
The Albany team last to meet our girls by
the score of 43 to 3. These two games
however was sufficient proof that our
girls played the game to win, and all
other teams were well aware of this fact
as they were in no way inclined to com
plete with us for the championship
which we can rightly claim.
The basket all bseason came to an end
with the game at Newburg. The season
was ind eed a lively one for Chemawa.
More basket ball was played this year
than during any previous season. The
boys played the game before this time
but never before have they had a tbo
rougly organized team dril'ed and
acquainted with the rules of the game
as this year's team, and it is not an
unwise prediction to say that another
will put our team to the front ready to
play the best of them and give each a
hard run for the championship.
Haven't Time
Among the speakers at the great edu
cational convention held at Asbury Park
last July, was President Roosevelt. A lit
tle incident of his visit, not upon the of
ficial records of the convention, is told liv
the local papers. There was at the time
in Asbury Park an old lady who owned
an autograph album containing the names
of all the presidents from the time of
Lincoln, and she was very anxious to
complete the collection with President
Roosevelt's name. Through tl.e kindness
of friends, her grandson was given an
opportunity to meet the president as he
was going to the platform.
