THE CHEMAWA AMERICAN, Chemawa employes and Departments. Below we give the members of the Chemawa school in order that thoae desiring to come to Chemawa may get acquainted with the various departments of the school. The head matron has charge of the various departments and superintends the va rious domestic departments of the girls, including the domestic science department. In the bakery our boys are given instruction not only in bread baking, but also in baking cakes and confections. The tailor not only gives instruction in gentlemen's tailoring, but also has a class ot girls who are making excellent progress in ladies' tailoring. In the shoe and harness Bhop nothing much is attempted beyond harnessmaking, shoempking, saddlery and repairing. For the past six years this department has taken the first prize at the Oregon State Fair against all comers for the excellence of Cbemawa's harness and saddles. The engineer has charge of steam healing, electric lighting, the power which runs the laundry and shops, the pumping of water, etc., etc., and in this department a young man has excellent chance s. The gardener has charge of the gardening and Chemawa's nice orchard. The poultry department does not appear under the head of Chemawa's faculty, but this po&ition is well filled bv Mr. Overman, our tailor, who thoroughly understands poultry raising and the care of them.
